Who was Pranshu?

Pranshu was a 16-year-old queer artist from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. Sadly, they ended their life after getting many hate comments on an Instagram video they had shared. Pranshu was a self-taught makeup artist who loved doing makeup and shared beauty content on Instagram.

Many people, including those from the LGBTQ community and others, are very heartbroken about the incident. They are also upset with sites like Instagram, X, and Facebook for not stopping cyberbullying.

Pranshu used to study in class 10 and lived with their mom. The teenager had posted many videos on social media of them doing make-up, applying nail polish on their hands, and wearing jewellery. Pranshu's mom is very sad and said the teenager was good at what they loved and didn't hurt anyone.

What can be done to stop cyberbullying?

The sad event with Pranshu shows that we need to deal with the bad effects of cyberbullying and online hate. We must encourage people to develop empathy and be kind to those who are different from them.

Just because someone is different doesn't mean we should treat them badly. We also need to teach people to accept everyone's differences. Everyone has unique qualities, and that's okay. We should always remember to be kind, not cruel.

Schools, families, and communities should work together to teach people about why being mean is bad. Social media platforms should make the online world safer. They must make sure none of their users are cyberbullying each other.

What should you do if you are cyberbullied?

If someone is cyberbullying you, here are some things you can do. First, don't respond to their mean messages. You can block them on social media or your phone. Remember, you're not alone. Tell someone you trust, like a parent, teacher, or friend, that you're being cyberbullied. They can help.

You can also ask your parents to go to the police and tell them about the problem. Show them any proof you have of the mean messages. They will help you. You can also report the person to the social media site, and they can block them. If the cyberbullying is making you feel upset, talk to a mental health professional.
