Wiklöf hopes that the money he paid as a fine will be used well by the country's government.</p><h5>Does everyone in Finland have to pay such a big fine for exceeding the speed limit?&nbsp;</h5><p>In Finland, fines for breaking traffic rules are different. They are based on a person's income and the seriousness of the offence.</p><p>When someone breaks a rule, their fine is calculated using their daily disposable income. This income is considered to be half of their total daily earnings. For example, if someone in Finland earns €100 (100 Euros) daily, their daily disposable income would be €50. The fine would be based on that amount.</p><p>Finland was the first Nordic country to introduce this income-based fine system in 1921. Other European countries, like Switzerland, later started a similar system. This system is used in Finland for various offences, including shoplifting.
