<h5>Where was this fossil discovered?</h5><p>We have seen (in various movies) and read that dinosaurs were terrifying creatures. They were at the top of the food chain and hunted others for food. However, a very well-preserved fossil shows that sometimes other animals fought back against the dinosaurs.</p><p>This fossil was discovered in China in 2012. It was found in the Lujiatun fossil beds in China's Liaoning Province. Photo by Gang Han.</figcaption></figure><p>The 125-million-year-old fossil shows that a mammal's teeth are dug into a beaked dinosaur's ribcage, and its left paw grips the dinosaur's lower jaw. The mammal was a third of the beaked dinosaur's size. The mammal is described to be roughly the size of a cat. The beaked dinosaur was around the size of a dog.</p><p>The team that discovered this fossil said neither creature was a full-grown adult. The animals appeared to have died in a natural disaster while fighting each other. The fossil shows there is a lack of bite marks on the dinosaur skeleton (indicating that the mammal was not scavenging a dead dinosaur).</p><p>The mammal is located on top of the dinosaur. The mammal's clutching and biting stance also shows that it was feeding on the weakened dinosaur. Clearly, dinosaurs were not the only predators back then.</p><p>This article also demonstrates that size doesn’t matter when it comes to strength.
