<h5>History made in the Karnataka HC.</h5><p>The Karnataka High Court (HC) created history by becoming the first HC in the country to hear arguments from a speech and hearing-impaired advocate.</p><p>Advocate Sarah Sunny used a sign language interpreter to argue a dowry harassment case in which she was representing the wife, who is the complainant.</p><p>Sunny also happens to be India’s first practising lawyer with a hearing disability. Isn’t that very inspiring!?</p><h5>Sarah Sunny: A beacon of hope!</h5><p>Sarah Sunny and the Karnataka HC are an inspiration to people who are differently-abled, highlighting the importance of inclusivity for all.</p><p>Sunny’s journey highlights the fact that nothing can stop hardworking individuals from achieving success.</p><h5>Difficulties faced by speech and hearing-impaired people.</h5><p>Speech and hearing-impaired people experience various challenges in their daily lives, like communication barriers, social isolation, etc.</p><p>They may also struggle to communicate normally with people in school colleges, or in their jobs. Still, they must be respected and treated well.</p><h5>How do we treat speech and hearing-impaired people?</h5><p>We must treat them with respect, dignity and empathy. Sometimes, they may take slightly more time to understand and communicate with us - and that’s perfectly alright.</p><p>If you need to put some extra effort to understand and be understood - go ahead and do that.
