History made in the Karnataka HC.
The Karnataka High Court (HC) became the first HC to hear arguments about a case from a speech and hearing-impaired lawyer who used a sign language interpreter.
The lawyer, Sarah Sunny, is also India’s first practising lawyer with a hearing disability. Such an inspiring person!
Sarah Sunny: A beacon of hope!
Sarah Sunny and the Karnataka HC have become sources of inspiration for people who are differently-abled.
Sunny's career as a lawyer shows how hard work never goes to waste.
Be kind to speech and hearing-impaired people.
Speech and hearing-impaired people face many challenges, such as communicating with others. If you need to put some extra effort to understand and be understood - go ahead and do that. It’s always good to be kind!
You could also try learning a little bit of sign language from the video below!
Remember, just because someone is differently-abled doesn’t mean that we treat them differently. Just like Sarah Sunny, they can overcome obstacles and achieve success!
