<h5>How many anchors is the I.N.D.I.A bloc boycotting?</h5><p>26 opposition parties formed an alliance named <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.newsahoot.com/articles/indian-opposition-parties-have-formed-an-alliance">I.N.D.I.A.</a>, which stands for "Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance. Recently, the alliance announced they will boycott 14 TV news anchors. The names of the 14 anchors have also been released.</p><p>The mentioned anchors are:</p><ul><li>News 18- Aman Chopra, Amish Devgan and Anand Narasimhan,</li><li>Aaj Tak- Chitra Tripathi and Sudhir Chaudhary,</li><li>India Today- Gaurav Sawant and Shiv Aroor,</li><li>India TV- Prachi Parashar,</li><li>Republic Bharat- Arnab Goswami,</li><li>Bharat 24- Rubika Liyaquat,</li><li>Times Now Navbharat- Navika Kumar and Sushant Sinha,</li><li>Bharat Express- Aditi Tyagi,</li><li>DD News- Ashok Shrivastav</li></ul><p>The alliance will not send any of its representatives to participate in the shows of the mentioned anchors. The alliance claims they also do not talk about important issues related to the public.</p><p>The boycotted channels will be observed by the alliance for the coming few months. The boycott will be lifted if there is an improvement in their shows. Otherwise, steps like a ban on advertisements for these channels may be implemented.</p><h5>What are the reactions to this announcement?</h5><p>The News Broadcasters &amp; Digital Association (NBDA) has criticised this decision. NBDA says this decision shows intolerance towards some and threatens the country’s press freedom. The organisation also said that the decision taken by the alliance is against the right to express opinions and ideas.</p><p>They have asked the alliance to withdraw this decision. The News Broadcasters Federation (NBF) has also criticised the decision. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is also against the boycott. BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda has asked the alliance to focus on working to serve the people instead of boycotting the news anchors.</p><p>Leaders of at least two alliance party members also voiced their disapproval of the move. They also said that they were not consulted before the decision was taken.</p>
