<h5>Whom did India beat to win the U19 T20 World Cup?</h5>  <p>On 29th January 2023, India defeated England in the inaugural International Cricket Council (ICC) Under 19 (U19) Women's T20 World Cup final. After India’s captain, Shafali Verma won the toss, she sent England out to bat first. The Indian bowlers tore through England's batters, reducing them to 22/4 after six overs.</p>
<p>Wickets continued to fall at quick intervals. The final wicket fell when England’s scoreboard read 68, leaving India with a target of 69 to win. Then it was India’s turn to bat. Early on, Shafali Verma's 15 runs from 11 balls brought down the target, but the England bowlers managed to remove both the openers.</p>
<p>But, that didn’t scare the Indian team, as the next two batters (Soumya Tiwari and Gongadi Trisha) calmed things down with their wonderful partnership. However, Trisha couldn’t manage to hit the winning runs as she got out with 1 run remaining.  But India didn't have to wait long, and Tiwari took a single to drive India home.</p>
<p>Then the celebrations began as India lifted the first-ever ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup (yay!).

      </figure> <p>The tournament began on 14th January 2023 and concluded on 29th January 2023. It was supposed to be held in January 2021 before being moved to December 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it was once again postponed and ICC confirmed that the event would be held in South Africa.</p>
<p>16 teams took part in this competition. They were divided into 4 groups consisting of 4 teams each. 12 teams qualified from the first round and they were placed in 2 groups of six teams. From this stage, 4 teams reached the semi-finals of the tournament.</p>
<p>Following the semi-finals, two teams were eliminated, and the final match was played.

      </figure> <p>At the beginning of the tournament, India was placed in Group D along with South Africa, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Scotland. They defeated all three of them to top the group and reach the next stage of the tournament.</p>
<p>Here, India was placed in Super 6 Group 1 along with Australia, Bangladesh, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the UAE. India was defeated by Australia at this stage, but they managed to reach the semi-finals.</p>
<p>In the semi-finals, India faced New Zealand, whom they defeated to reach the finals. We all know what happened in the finals. The Indian players performed brilliantly throughout the tournament. India’s Shweta Sehrawat scored the most runs in the competition (297), while captain Shafali Verma was the third-highest run-getter (172).</p>
<p>India’s Parshavi Chopra was the second-highest wicket-taker (11) and Mannat Kashyap was the fifth-highest (9). This showed that all departments of the Indian team performed really well, and thus India became the champion (makes you beam with pride, right?).</p> <h5>What did we learn from this article?</h5>  <p>Through their win, the Indian U19 women's cricket team can teach someone about hard work, sportsmanship, leadership, and self-discipline. So, if you want to achieve something in life, you should also work hard and have self-discipline.</p>
