<h5>What is the Men’s Junior Asia Cup Hockey Tournament?</h5><p>The Asian Hockey Federation organises the Men’s Junior Asia Cup Hockey Tournament. It is a men’s under-21 hockey competition. The first tournament was held in 1988. Since then, it has served as a qualifier tournament for the Men's FIH Hockey Junior World Cup. The 9th edition of the Men's Junior Asia Cup concluded recently.</p><p>It was held in Salalah, Oman, from 23rd May 2023 to 1st June 2023. This tournament is taking place after eight years. The previous tournament was supposed to be held in 2021 but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.</p><p>Ten teams participated in this year’s tournament. They are India, Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Japan, Pakistan, Thailand, Oman, and Uzbekistan. Along with Malaysia, the top three teams (India, Pakistan, and the Republic of Korea) from this tournament qualified for the FIH Men's Junior Hockey World Cup 2023.</p><p>Malaysia has already qualified for the Men's Junior Hockey World Cup 2023 as they are the host nation. Recently, the final match of the Men's Hockey Junior Asia Cup was held. India emerged victorious in this tournament (yay!).</p><h5>Whom did India defeat in the final match?</h5><p>The Indian hockey team defeated Pakistan in the tournament's final match. Both teams started off well. But India’s Angad Bir Singh scored the first goal to give India the lead.</p><p>Araijeet Singh Hundal doubled the lead five minutes into the second quarter. He is also India's top scorer in the Junior Asia Cup 2023 with eight goals. Pakistan tried their best to score and defeat India, but the Indian players defended well. Thus, India lifted the Men’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup 2023 trophy.</p><p>In the group stage, India and Pakistan both were placed in the same group (Group A). India topped this group, with Pakistan coming in second. From Group B, Malaysia and Korea qualified for the semi-finals. India has previously won in 2004, 2008, and 2015. Pakistan is the tournament's second-most successful team, with three trophies.
