A New Scientific Success
In 2025, scientists in Japan made something very special. They started testing "artificial blood" at Nara Medical University.
Normally, when someone needs blood, doctors must find the same blood type. But this new blood might work for anyone and everyone!
Scientists believe it can help when there is not enough blood for patients.
There Are Different Types of Blood!
People have four main blood types: A, B, AB, and O. These types have tiny things called antigens on red blood cells. If someone receives the wrong blood type, they may become sick or even lose their life.
There's also something called the Rh factor. It makes blood either positive (+) or negative (-). This means A+ and A- are different.
Because of this, it can be hard to find the right blood quickly during an emergency.
What Did Scientists Do?
Japanese scientists made tiny bubbles called “hemoglobin vesicles.” These bubbles carry something called hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is the part of blood that carries oxygen to the body. They made it using old donated blood that doctors could not use anymore.
These bubbles have no blood type. This means that they can be used for anyone!
Real blood must be kept cold and used in a few weeks. But this new blood can stay good for two years without a fridge!
How Will This Help People?
This new blood can save a lot of lives. In disasters like earthquakes, accidents, or surgeries, finding the right blood is hard. But doctors can use this new blood quickly.
It can help in small villages or poor countries where blood is less donated. Hospitals and the army can keep it ready all the time. This will save a lot of important time.
What Could Happen Next?
The testing of this new blood began in 2025. Scientists hope to finish all safety checks by 2030. Then hospitals can start using it.
One day, blood might be made without any donations at all. This could help save people all throughout the world, regardless of blood type.
