<h5>Where has the lithium reserve been found?</h5>  <p>Recently, the Union Government announced that for the first time in the country, 5.9 million tonnes of lithium reserves were discovered in Jammu and Kashmir. The Geological Survey of India discovered the lithium reserve in the Salal-Haimana area of Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district.</p>

<p>Lithium is a metal that has the ability to store a huge quantity of energy. It is also a silvery, soft metal that has a strong reaction with water. Alloys of aluminium and lithium are used in aeroplanes, bicycle frames, and high-speed trains. Lithium oxide is used to make special glasses.</p>
<p>Lithium chloride is also used in air conditioning and industrial drying systems. Lithium carbonate is also used in medication to treat depression. Lithium hydride is used to store hydrogen so that it can be used as a fuel.

These newly-found lithium blocks will be studied and auctioned, putting J&K (and India) on the worldwide map for lithium reserves. This discovery has the potential to generate new jobs, money from the sale of lithium, and investment from companies.</p>
