Who is Manika Batra?

Manika Batra is an Indian table tennis player who was born on 15th June 1995. She has won various medals for India. She is from Delhi and began playing table tennis at the age of four.

Batra first came to public attention during the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. She won four medals, two of which were gold.

She is ranked among the top 100 female table tennis players in the world and takes part in various competitions. She recently became the first Indian female player to win a bronze medal in the Asian Cup. This tournament is organised by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and the Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU).

The ITTF and the ATTU organise this table tennis tournament every year. This year’s tournament was held at the Huamark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, from 17th November 2022 to 19th November 2022.

Each match consisted of seven games. The game is won by the first person to score 11 points. In this tournament, India was represented by Sharath Kamal, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, and Manika Batra. Manika Batra won a bronze medal for India in the most recent edition of this tournament.

How was her performance in this tournament?

In the first round, Manika Batra defeated world number 7 Chen Xingtong of China. However, Batra was defeated in the semi-finals by Japan's Mima Ito. So, she played against Hina Hayata of Japan for the bronze medal.

Manika Batra won the bronze medal after defeating Hayata, the three-time Asian champion. Many people, including President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, praised her performance in this tournament.
