Who revealed his face?
On 2nd October 2022, anonymous video game streamer Dream (real name Clay) revealed his face to the public. He removed the cartoon-smiley mask he'd been wearing for nearly three years to show his face. In a YouTube video, he revealed his face to his fans. His first selfie tweet received over 8,00,000 likes (amazing!). His fans were delighted to see him. However, some used the chance to make fun of his appearance (it’s wrong to make fun of someone’s appearance!).
Okay, so what does Dream do?

"Dream" is a 23-year-old streamer who has been active on the internet since 2014. He, along with his friend, created Minecraft's Dream SMP (survival multi-player) server. He has over 30 million followers on his YouTube channel, where he uploads Minecraft gaming videos. Dream's anonymity was one of the most appealing features of his online identity. His anonymity, bright attitude, and gaming skills helped him gain many fans.
Hold on! What is Minecraft and what is streaming?
Mojang (a video game development company) created the video game Minecraft in 2009. It was the company's first game, and it went on to become the best-selling game of all time, selling over 180 million copies globally (whoa!). Minecraft is a sandbox game that provides players with a limitless environment to explore.
Streaming involves sharing the screen of a video game along with the player to a live audience. Professional gamers may make money through streaming. So, it is considered to be a lucrative job, but not all streamers are successful in earning money. Many of the streamers choose to stay anonymous.
How will Dream’s face reveal affect other anonymous streamers?

There are other streamers who remain anonymous. It will be interesting to see how Dream's identity reveal affects his career. If other anonymous streamers notice that revealing Dream's face has helped his career, they might do the same. Have you ever played Minecraft? If not, which video games do you like to play?
