What's The News?

On 30th May 2025, something special happened in India. 17 girl cadets (students) graduated from the National Defence Academy (NDA) for the first time ever!

They trained for 3 years and marched with 300 boys in a big event called the Passing Out Parade. This is a grand ceremony where cadets finish their training in the NDA and get ready to become officers in the Indian military.

It was a proud moment for all of India!

What is the NDA?

The National Defence Academy (NDA) is India’s most important military school. It is in Pune, Maharashtra. Here, students who want to join the Army, Navy, or Air Force are trained together.

The students, or cadets here, learn subjects like Science, Arts, and Engineering. They also do physical training like running and exercise. They learn how to be brave leaders.

After 3 years, they go to higher academies like the Indian Military Academy (IMA), the Indian Naval Academy (INA), or the Air Force Academy (AFA). Then, they become officers in the Indian Armed Forces.

How Do You Join NDA?

To join the NDA, students must pass a national exam held by a body called UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). This exam can be taken after Class 12.

If they pass the exam, they go for an interview. There, they are tested on teamwork, leadership, and smart thinking. Only the best students get selected.

Before 2021, only boys could join the NDA. But that changed after a big court order.

Why Was This the First Female Batch?

For 70 years, NDA had only boys. But in 2021, the Supreme Court said this was not fair and ordered the NDA to start allowing girls.

In 2022, girls joined for the first time, and after 3 years of training, they graduated in 2025. They trained just like the boys, following the NDA's gender-neutral training.

Why This Is Special

This is a huge moment for India. These 17 cadets are now role models for girls all over the country.

One day, they might become the top leaders of the Army, Navy, or Air Force.

This news proves that dreams don't have gender. And if you have enough courage and dedication, your dreams come true.
