<h5>Who is Rishi Sunak?</h5>  <p>Rishi Sunak was born in Southampton, the United Kingdom (UK) on 12th May 1980 to an Indian-origin family. His mother was a pharmacist, while his father was a National Health Service (NHS) general practitioner (GP). His grandparents were born in Punjab when India was under British rule, while his parents were born in Africa.
Sunak is an Oxford and Stanford University graduate (wow!). He is married to Akshata Murty, the daughter of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy. Sunak joined Goldman Sachs after graduating from Oxford in 2001. He stayed there until 2004 and then left to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Stanford.
Sunak was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) from Richmond, Yorkshire, in 2015. He quickly progressed through the ranks of the Conservative Party and supported "Brexit." In February 2020, he was named Chancellor of the Exchequer, one of the most important posts in the UK cabinet.
Sunak became popular during the COVID-19 pandemic for his economic package. This package assisted employees and companies and also included a scheme that prevented people from losing their jobs. This prevented widespread unemployment in the UK. Recently, he became the Prime Minister (PM) of the UK, replacing Liz Truss, who had earlier resigned from this post.</p> <h5>Why did Liz Truss resign?</h5> <figure>

      </figure> <p>Liz Truss became the PM of the UK after Boris Johnson resigned on 7th July 2022. Later, Truss also resigned as the PM of the UK on 20th October 2022. She held this post for 45 days, making her the UK's shortest-serving prime minister.</p>
<p>She resigned as the PM as a result of a failed tax-cutting plan that shook the financial markets. The members of her own Conservative Party turned against her. Also, during her tenure, official work was halted for 10 days following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
When Truss became the PM, she set out a vision for a low-tax, high-growth economy. But, according to her, she was unable to fulfil her vision. So, she decided to resign from the post of PM.       </figure> <p>Rishi Sunak is the UK’s first Asian PM and the country's youngest PM in over 200 years. He has called for unity in the face of significant economic difficulties. In his first speech, Sunak stated that he would be working to uplift the UK. He will also be looking to ease the economic difficulties the country is facing.</p>
