Ratan Tata, the Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group, loves animals and supports various organisations that protect them.

He has instructed his staff at The Taj Mahal Palace, a luxurious hotel, to be kind to stray animals if they wander onto the property.

Are other organisations working to help animals?

Many groups and companies are helping animals through special programs.

For example, the Reliance Foundation has launched an initiative to rescue and care for animals both in India and abroad.

Newsahoot also contributes to animal welfare by converting your hard-earned ‘hootcoins’ into real-world money that goes directly to feeding stray dogs! Click here to feed a stray dog using your Hootcoins.

How can you help?

You can help street dogs, cats, and birds by leaving food and water outside your home. If you see an injured animal, ask an adult for help.

In summer, animals may seek shelter from the sun by hiding under cars. So, remind your parents to check under their cars before starting them!

But remember - never approach a stray animal without adult supervision.
