During a boring period in 1928, the magazine's editors struggled to come up with items to publish. They, therefore, decided to write about one individual who had been particularly significant the previous year. Since then, Time's Person of the Year began.
The title is given to one person who has had the biggest impact on the news and our daily lives. Whether the individual is a good or evil guy is unimportant. In 1938, Adolf Hitler was given the title.
Recently, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and ‘the Spirit of Ukraine’ have been named the Time's Person of the Year for 2022. The Ukrainian people's strength and resistance throughout the invasion are reflected by the ‘The Spirit of Ukraine.’
Why was Volodymyr Zelenskyy given the title?
Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the president of Ukraine. He received the title because of the bravery he showed in the face of the Russian invasion. He stood by his people and gave them hope.
Zelenskyy showed courage by deciding to stay in Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital. He had the option to go to the USA. He chose to stay and fight for his nation and people instead. All these have earned him the title, and it is indeed well deserved.
Has any Indian been named the Time Person of the Year?
The only Indian to win the Time Person of the Year award was Mahatma Gandhi. It was given to him in 1930. The magazine also included him on its list of the top 25 political icons in history.
What did we learn from this article?
We learned how a good leader should act. A good leader would always face issues head-on to protect their people. Let’s hope the crisis in Ukraine ends soon.
Let's also hope that soon another Indian wins the title (who knows, it might be you in the future).
