What record did Virat Kohli create?

The ICC Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup is happening now. The Indian team is doing really well in this tournament. They recently won against Bangladesh. At the time of writing this, India is in the first place on the league table. In the game against Bangladesh, Virat Kohli did something amazing.

He scored a century and helped India win by seven wickets. With these runs, Kohli became the fastest batter in men's cricket history to reach 26,000 runs in international cricket. He broke a record held by Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

This was also Kohli’s 48th ODI century. He can tie and break Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI centuries in this year’s World Cup. This was also Kohli’s 78th international century in all formats. He is 23 centuries away from breaking Tendulkar's record of 100 international centuries.

Kohli also passed Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardene to become the fourth-highest run-scorer in international cricket history. At the time of writing this, Kohli is also the fourth-highest run scorer (1384) in the ODI Cricket World Cup history.
