<h5>What should you feed your dog?</h5>  <p>Whether you plan to feed a stray or a pet, adult dogs can only have one or two meals per day. Their meals can include a range of foods, such as vegetables, fruits, meats, etc. </p>
<p>Carrots, cucumbers, and green beans are the most suitable vegetables for dogs. As for fruits, they can feast on an apple or a banana if they like. Though dogs can nibble on a sweet treat every once in a while, they should be kept away from sugary foods.</p>
<p>They can eat white rice and dairy products (milk, cheese, yoghurt, etc.) in small quantities. Their meals can include the following types of meat – cooked fish (salmon, shrimp, tuna, etc.), boiled chicken, pork, turkey, etc.</p> <h5>Is there any food item you should avoid giving your dog?</h5>  <p>Dogs should not consume raw meat, raw eggs, chocolate, coffee, onion, garlic, raisins, and grapes. Citrus fruits (like oranges and lemons) are known to cause digestive issues in dogs. Furthermore, their meals cannot have salt or spices in them.</p>
<p>One should strictly avoid feeding dining-table scraps to your dogs, no matter how much they beg. Since human food is high in fats and calories, it can cause weight gain, diarrhoea, and pancreatitis in dogs.</p> <h5>Why is a good diet necessary for a dog?</h5>  <p>Just like us humans, dogs also require a healthy and nutritious diet. Protein-rich foods (chicken, pork, etc.) give them energy and help build their muscles. </p>
<p>Food rich in fats (e.g. fish) gives dogs their shiny hair, while carbohydrates (e.g. wheat, potato, etc.) aid their digestion. The vitamins and minerals found in all dog-friendly food give them the strength to fight against diseases and infections.</p>
<p>When dogs do not get enough nutrition in their meals, they may display unwanted behaviour. Some of these behaviours include stealing food from tabletops, showing aggression over toys or treats, eating soil or wood or rocks, foraging in the garbage bin, etc. An inadequate meal can also cause them immense stress and anxiety.</p> <h5>What did we learn from this article?</h5>  <p>Many stray dogs do not have the luxury of eating proper meals like pets. Since food affects their moods, we often come across news of dogs turning aggressive or anxious when not fed properly. To avoid such incidents, citizens and the government must join hands to care for and feed all dogs.</p>
