President Droupadi Murmu swore him in. Radhakrishnan?</h5><p>Mr. Radhakrishnan is a leader from Tamil Nadu. He was born in 1957 and has worked in politics for many years. He was a Member of Parliament from Coimbatore. He also served as the Governor of Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Telangana, and as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. People respect him because of his long service.</p><h5>What Does The Vice-President Do?</h5><p>The Vice-President is not elected by the people. Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha vote to choose him. The winner needs more than half the votes. In 2025, Mr. C.P. Radhakrishnan won with 452 votes.</p><p>The Vice-President is the Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Parliament. He makes sure that discussions are fair and rules are followed. Normally, he does not vote, but if there is a tie, he gives the deciding vote. Also, if the President of India cannot continue due to any reason, the Vice-President becomes President until a new one is chosen.</p><h5>What Happens Next</h5><p>Now that Mr. Radhakrishnan is Vice-President, he will lead the Rajya Sabha. His fairness will help make better laws.
