<h5>India Has Longer Beaches!</h5><p>The Indian government has recently said that our country's coastline is now longer than before. It has grown from 7,516.6 kilometres to 11,098.8 kilometres. That’s almost 50% more!</p><p>But India did not get new land. The coastline became longer because new tools helped scientists measure it better.</p><h5>What is a Coastline?</h5><p>A coastline is where the land touches the sea. It includes beaches, bays, and the edges of land next to water.</p><p>India has many states near the sea. Gujarat has the longest coastline on the mainland, about 2,340.6 kilometres now. Tamil Nadu comes next, then Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.</p><p>But overall, the longest coastline of all lies with the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Thanks to their 572 small and large islands, Andaman and Nicobar have over 3,000 kilometres of coastline!</p><h5>How is a Coastline Measured?</h5><p>Measuring a coastline is not easy. It depends on how closely we look.</p><p>In the 1970s, people used simple maps and big rulers to measure the coastline. They joined the main points with straight lines and missed small things like tiny islands.</p><p>Now, we use smart tools like GPS, LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), satellites, and drones. These can see small parts that old tools could not.</p><p>We also now use something called the High Water Line. This is the highest point where the sea touches the land. It helps everyone start measuring from the same place.</p><h5>Why Did the Coastline Get Longer?</h5><p>The new tools measure the coast much better, about 18 times better than the old tools!</p><p>Also, many small islands were not counted earlier. Now, scientists have counted over 1,300 of them. These were added to the total coastline length.</p><h5>What Does This Tell Us</h5><p>This shows how science and technology help us know our planet better.</p><p>There is a special idea called the "coastline paradox." It means the more closely we look at something, the longer it becomes!</p><p>So, India’s coastline did not actually grow. We just learned to see it better!</p>
