Where was the school inaugurated?
India’s first all-girls Sainik School was opened in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. The school, called Samvid Gurukulam Girls Sainik School, can house up to 870 students. The Defense Minister, Rajnath Singh, inaugurated this school.
What are Sainik Schools?
Sainik Schools aim to give excellent education and training to students, helping them become good citizens and succeed in various parts of life. These schools are run by the Sainik Schools Society (SSS) and are part of the Central Board of Secondary Education in New Delhi.
They also help students prepare for the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy entrance exams. Students are also encouraged to explore their creativity through different activities.
In 2019, the Defense Minister allowed girls to join Sainik Schools from the academic session 2021-22. There are also plans to open new Sainik Schools.
Why does the government want to open new Sainik Schools?
The new all-girls Sainik School is part of a plan to build 100 new Sainik schools across India. This effort involves collaboration between NGOs, state government schools, and the private sector.
The goal is to give children a good education and expand their job opportunities, including the chance to join the military services.
