<h5>Where was the school inaugurated?</h5><p>India’s defence minister, Rajnath Singh, has recently inaugurated India’s first all-girls Sainik School in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh (UP). The school is named Samvid Gurukulam Girls Sainik School. It can accommodate around 870 students.</p><p>Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath and other high-ranking state officials were also present during the school’s inauguration ceremony.</p><h5>What are Sainik Schools?</h5><p>Sainik Schools are involved in providing quality education and training to students to educate them to be good citizens and to succeed in all aspects of life. The Sainik Schools Society (SSS) manages all the Sainik Schools across the country.</p><p>The Sainik Schools are part of the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.newsahoot.com/articles/cbse-launches-youth-ideathon-2023">Central Board of Secondary Education</a> in New Delhi. It also trains students for the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy entrance examinations. In these schools, students are also encouraged to develop their creative capabilities through various co-curricular activities.</p><p>In 2019, the Defence Minister allowed the enrollment of female students in Sainik Schools from the academic session 2021-22. There are also plans to open new Sainik Schools.</p><h5>Why does the government want to open new Sainik Schools?</h5><p>The new all-girls Sainik School was established as part of a larger drive to build 100 new Sainik schools across India in collaboration with NGOs, state government schools, private sectors, etc.</p><p>The plan to build 100 new Sainik Schools is being done to provide children with a high-quality education and to expand their job opportunities, including opportunities to join the military services.</p>

The school was opened in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh.
