Which is India’s first 24x7 solar-powered village?

Modhera, a village in Gujarat, has been declared India's first 24x7 solar-powered village by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi.

The government previously provided electricity to the residents of this village. Residents will be able to produce their own electricity now since solar panels have been installed (how cool is that?).

Oh wow! How was this made possible?

In this village, 1300 rooftop solar panels have been installed and a solar power plant has been constructed. All of the solar panels are connected to a battery energy storage system (BESS). BESS uses batteries to store and distribute electricity.

Solar panels will power the village during the day, and BESS will power the houses at night. This also helps reduce electricity bills. If the residents do not use all of the electricity produced, the government purchases the extra energy.

What is the significance of this project?

This project has shown how solar energy can be used to produce electricity. Such projects can now be installed in more villages across the country. Looking at this village, people will install solar panels in their homes, and farmers will produce electricity from their farms.

This project also shows how one can benefit from solar energy. This will encourage more people to use solar energy.

What did we learn from this article?

For India to become self-sufficient, we must increase efforts to fulfil our energy needs. By 2030, India hopes to fulfil half of its energy needs from renewable energy sources such as solar and wind. Such projects will help the country achieve its goal.

We must also work hard to save energy and protect the environment. Do you think there should be more solar-powered villages like this in the country? Please let us know in the comment section.
